They’re so cute and you’re the gem in the middle of all that Hemmingway-ness! Love it!

Thanks for the kind words, Marcia. We had a wonderful escape to Key West! As soon as I catch up on my sleep, laundry, and time with my children, I’ll be certain to share our adventure’s highlights. Have a terrific week! :)

This was my first time back to Key West in almost 40 years. In the early 70’s I lived in Miami Springs and would go down to Key West on extended date nights. I met my lovely wife Sheila in Miami Springs at the “Big Daddy’s 747” club on Royal Poinciana Drive, and now after 37 years we returned for a long welcomed “extended date night” as I entered my first of many “Ernest Hemingway Look Alike contest”.

When asked if someone could pose with me I always stated my “fee” was a hug and a kiss! That was the way we did it back in the 60’s and early 70’s and it seems to still be working. Fun was had by all and I am eager to return next year. Sheila and I now live in Melbourne where I work at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. We have three kids and five grandkids, who call me PAPA. If I had of known the grandkids were so my fun, I would have had them first.

Jolyse, it was a pleasure to see my picture with you and your kind words about my way of life.

      Hi Papa James,

I’m honored you stopped by and read my homage to this wonderful annual charity event. When I first learned about Hemingway Days years ago, I had no idea the extent of generosity and love that went into it. Thank you for sharing your story with us. My husband and I had a memoriable getaway to Old Town as usual, and cannot wait to go back.

May our paths cross again one day, Papa. Take care and enjoy that lovely Mama of yours and those grandkids, too.
