Relief from the heat of the day,
We’re drawn to the wooden boardwalk,
Where flowery fragrance fills the air,
Hidden creatures chirp their mating songs,
And svelte swans grace the lawn.
Away from the raucous festivities,
Warm bodies, pulsing music, and stilted small talk,
Into the cool, calm quiet.
Rare is our solitude, rare is the perfect June night.

Beautiful Jolyse!
Thanks, Nicole! I was inspired by these photos I shot the evening of summer solstice.
what a great poem, I wish I had that summer!
I agree. This was beautiful! 🙂
Happy you enjoyed it, Rhonda. 🙂
Lovely pic. And sweet and simple poem 🙂
Thanks, Tuere. Happy summer!
Beautiful, Jolyse! Didn’t know you were a poet, my multi-talented friend!
Thanks, Marcia. You should read my children’s poetry–all about the potty humor. LOL. Seriously, I dabble in poetry whereas I toil over my prose, my true love when it comes to writing.
