Disney’s cartoon movie, Finding Nemo, came out in 2003 and fans have been happily quoting from it ever since. Some of the flick’s more memorable lines are:
- I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.
- He touched the butt.
- Hey. You guys made me ink.
- I didn’t come this far to be breakfast.
- Well, you can’t never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him. Not much fun for little Harpo.
- I’m H2O intolerant.
- Just keep swimming.
When the northeastern United States was hit by Snowstorm Nemo this past Friday, the last quote seemed especially fitting to many. Life often gives us no choice other than to plod forward through the tough times. Builds character, right?
I grew up in the Adirondacks, so I’m not frightened by a little snow, or even a lot, but I have to admit the commute home in white-out conditions ranked as one of my more harrowing experiences as a driver. Once home, howevever, I was able to enjoy nature’s beauty. Old Man Winter and Jack Frost had painted everything white.
My favorite image, though, was the sight of my neighbor’s flags flying proudly.
Don’t let the storms in life get you down, there are always blessings and signs of hope ahead. Hang in there! Spring is around the corner, and you will enjoy it even more for having weathered the difficult days.

Keep on swimming is my favorite. In fact I have a Dory fish sitting on my desk where I write. And I sent one to my mom when she was having some medical problems. I had to explain it and she thought it was great.

I was hoping you would post some photos from Nemo, Jolyse. I am glad you made it home safe and was able to enjoy the beauty. Love the photo of the flags! So far, the winter in Charlotte has been uneventful. I am hoping it stays that way because I am dying to break out the cute sandals!

We’re getting nowhere near the cold and snow you have, but I’m not very winter tolerant. Can’t wait for more sun and 65 degrees. Glad you got home okay.
The Pixar movies have so many good lines. I know more of those than most adult movies, I’m sad to say. The ones you picked out are some of my favorites from Finding Nemo too.
Our winters are generally quite mild compared to many in the northeast, being on the ocean like we are. However, this has been an odd year. I’m with you…looking forward to sunny days, sixty-five and above. (Hey, who am I kidding? I’d prefer it to be tropical hot…sunny and 80-90s. LOL)
Kids’ movies are great. No need to hang your head in shame. 🙂
I feel a bit mean saying we’re in the middle of one of our best summers on record in New Zealand. I’ve never seen anything like the snow in your pictures – at least you can look on the bright side.
Strangely ‘just keep swimming’ was the thing that kept me going during the birth of my second child. (The eldest was young, so we had watched Nemo a number of times in the run up). So I’ll always have a soft spot for Dory… Saying that my husband’s name is Bruce so for years he was known as Bruce the shark by lots of small children…

That is incredible. I’m a bit jealous, but excited for you! Enjoy your beach days and be sure to include photos from your outings. That way, we northern types can live vicariously through your adventures. Yes, I’d love to come. I already told hubby I have so many friends in Texas, I’m anxious to go see them someday. Jolyse, those snow photos are amazing! I love snow, but seriously, that’s too much. We’ve had more snow this year than last. All in all, it’s been tolerable. The older I get the more I appreciate warm/hot weather. I’m anxious to plant my garden, although I know I have at least two more months before that can happen.
